A short film about a boy who realizes that his hero is not the man he once thought he was.
As children, we are often raised to believe that the members of our family are models of perfection, love and exemplary behavior. It isn’t until we are older that we come to realize that more often than not this is not the case. Blessed, Our Father is an emotional short film that focuses on how complex, and sometimes malicious family relationships can be.
Sam, an 8-year-old boy, eagerly goes to reunite with his beloved grandfather Nick so that they can celebrate Christmas together. However, Sam’s father Tom is withholding a secret in hope that he can protect his son’s innocence.
We are a group of up-and-coming filmmakers that are setting out to tell a universal story about family, childhood and betrayal. Our story is set during a Christmas celebration, and what at first appears to be an innocent gathering quickly reveals a darker undertone. Through three generations of family men, we see how youthful eyes are often blissfully ignorant to problems that are closer to home than we might realize.
