Краткое содержание:
This is a story about a cantankerous old Jew and a street-wise Harlem black kid.The owner of a delicatessan store in Fairview finds himself lumbered with the boy on a summer treat for underprivileged children. His nephew has arranged it, but goes off to a job interview and leaves the irrascilble old man to contend with the unwanted boy. At first the grumpy man (still grieving for the loss of his son in the war) tries to get rid of Herman, buy soon a bond forms between them. This love is tested to the full when the man has to tell the boy that his idolised brother has been killed in Vietnam. This would have been the usual mushy sob story, but it was taken to a top level by the acting of the wonderfully ugly Peter Falk and the introduction of Aaron, who played his part so naturally. Nothing was over the top, everything was played to perfection by the diametrically opposite characters.
